Oven Not Heating Up
An oven that will not reach temperature usually has a failed bake element on an electric model, or a weak igniter on a gas model that no longer draws enough current to open the gas valve.
Before you start: Switch off at the breaker, or close the gas shutoff, before removing any panel. Gas work should be left to a qualified technician.

How to check: With the oven on, the element should glow evenly. Blistering, a visible break or no glow at all is conclusive.

How to check: The igniter glows but gas never lights, or takes a very long time. A weak igniter still glows while failing to draw enough current to open the valve — which is why "it glows, so it must be fine" is misleading.
